Pig Farming

As the world population grows, consumption of meat will also increase. The OECD (The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) expects that by 2014, the global demand for pork will have increased by 14 per cent as compared to 2006, despite the fact that more and more people are choosing to eat less meat or to follow a vegetarian diet. Pig farmers will have to work very efficiently in order to meet this rising demand for pork over the coming years. About 70 per cent of the production is exported, mostly to EU countries. Geographically, the Netherlands is very well located in an area of around 150 million prosperous consumers. Paris, London and Berlin are all within 500 kms. The Netherlands is a leading nation when it comes to pig farming expertise worldwide.
