5 December is International Volunteer Day and, on behalf of PUM and many entrepreneurs worldwide, we would like to thank you very much for all your efforts!

Encouraging Dutch companies to do more business in and with Africa: That is the aim of the Africa Strategy as drawn up by the business organisations VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland. Hans de Boer, chairman of VNO-NCW, presented the first copy to Prime Minister Mark Rutte on 26 of November during the trade mission to Nigeria.

PUM Netherlands senior experts (PUM) and Women on Wings Foundation (Women on Wings) have agreed upon a joint effort to reduce poverty through creating 25,000 sustainable jobs for women in rural India by supporting Indian social enterprises in their overall growth.

An inspiring event took place in the Malietoren (The Hague, Netherlands) on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Action against AMR (antimicrobial resistance) was the central theme of the morning. It is a joint initiative of PUM, WIMM (Working Group on International Medical Microbiology of the Dutch Association for Medical Microbiology (NVMM) and the Medical Microbiology Department of the Radboudumc. The purpose of the event was to make an inventory of concrete opportunities Dutch business have to offer for companies and organisations in low and middle income countries.

PUM and CBI renewed their Statement of Cooperation. Both parties assist SME’s in developing countries and emerging markets and have been complementing each other for years by working through an integrated value chain approach - partnership. To achieve more impact through their cooperation, PUM and CBI will intensify their cooperation in joint project identification, development and implementation. Further cooperation will help to solve more problems in target countries and achieve better results.

The Hague, July 1st, 2019. PUM Netherlands senior experts (PUM) and TUI Care Foundation are linking up to support women’s cooperatives in rural areas in Western Morocco.

The leaders of the VVD, CDA, D66, Forum for Democracy, GroenLinks and the number 3 of the PvdA met in the Malietoren on 16 May for a debate on the upcoming European elections. To bring the PUM mission to the attention of political parties, PUM Director Andy Wehkamp spoke with all the participants of the debate. PUM works together with similar organisations in other European countries to strengthen SMEs in developing countries and emerging markets. European themes such as international trade, climate and CSR are also important for SMEs in emerging markets.

With this message, we at PUM would like to express our sincere condolences to everyone who was wronged by the terrible terrorist attacks on Easter in Sri Lanka. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends, and the people of Sri Lanka.
None of our PUM experts were present in Sri Lanka at the time of the attacks. We are also fortunate that all our representatives who live permanently in Sri Lanka are safe. We specifically want to support them and wish them strength during this difficult situation.
