Country Manager Indonesia (Duo-role)

Indonesia is, not only in size but also in number of projects, one of the largest countries PUM is active. We expect to continue our growth in the coming years and to facilitate this, we need to strengthen our country management. Consequently, we are looking to add a country manager to our team. For our new colleague, the focus will be on a part of Indonesia yet to be determined. Ideally, we are looking for a local candidate, that is someone residing – and permitted to work – in Indonesia. That being said, we welcome Dutch candidates residing in the Netherlands too. Who are you

• You are a people manager with strong intercultural sensitivity and proven experience in building and managing international commercial teams.

• You have experience in coaching diverse teams, fostering collaboration, and achieving results.

• You are an authentic, resilient, humble, and dynamic professional with an in-depth understanding of the culture and customs in Indonesia.

• You have knowledge and experience in the operation of businesses, especially SMEs.

• You are eager to navigate various development opportunities within Indonesia.

• You have excellent command of English and Bahasa.

• You reside in Indonesia or The Netherlands.

• We can only consider candidates with Dutch nationality or Indonesian nationality when living in Indonesia.

• You are very comfortable with digital tools, including Microsoft 365.

Being a Country Manager at PUM

In this role, you will have your own responsibilities but will also have to join forces. It is therefore important that you are a team player. Besides the two country managers, the country team of Indonesia consists of 15 representatives and one project officer.

As a country manager at PUM, your role as a people manager is pivotal. You’re not merely coordinating; you’re supporting positive change. By implementing PUM’s strategy in Indonesia, you spearhead impactful projects that contribute to sustainable growth in SMEs.

What being a country manager will look like?

You’ll be actively engaged with PUM, averaging 16 – 20 hours a week, often spread across multiple days. This includes regularly checking and responding to emails, addressing any urgent matters that may arise. Your responsibilities include:

• Building and managing an effective team of representatives responsible for bringing in clients and projects.

• Assessing client requests in your country together with the sector manager.

• Providing guidance and leadership to your country team, which consists of the project officer based in the Netherlands and representatives located in Indonesia.

• Jointly implementing PUM’s strategy and policies in Indonesia.

• Cultivating fruitful relationships with PUM clients and networking with external stakeholders to strengthen ecosystems around PUM clients.

• Jointly crafting and executing the Country Impact Plan for Indonesia.

• Ensuring strong working relationships with PUM sectors managers, other PUM country managers, and internal PUM departments.

Volunteer position

The country manager role is a unpaid/volunteer position with a small expense allowance. We prefer individuals committed for up to 4 years. Prescreening is part of the selection process. Anticipate traveling to Indonesia two to three times a year. At PUM, we celebrate diversity and inclusion as essential pillars of our organization.
