Expanding IT services in the Palestinian Territories
Jan Gerard Snip travelled to the Palestinian territories on behalf of PUM to advise the IT-company Synergia on expanding their services and the role of technology in their business. Jan Gerard Snip, founder and partner of Sping – Digital Lab has broad experience in business development at startups, UX design, and building complex digital solutions which proved to be very valuable.
In the Palestinian region, there are many qualified IT specialists, but unemployment among them is high. Recruiters are scarce, making it seem quite bleak for many. The startup Synergia can play a crucial role in addressing this growing issue in the region. “Together with Ali Nazzal, the owner of Synergia, I initiated a ‘business development programme’ to establish recruitment services alongside their current offerings. The aim is to enable more Palestinian youth to work remotely for Western companies. What struck me is that the youth are very proficient in English and have often visited Europe or America. Thus, there are minimal language or cultural barriers.
We initially had video contact, but being on-site allows for a more profound connection. I could now also converse with the people around the entrepreneur. The outcome of this programme is a clear focus for Synergia, along with a roadmap for introducing the recruitment services to the market. They also now understand the technological steps to take and the requirements of a software platform. At my company Sping, we developed a sophisticated HR-platform with a corresponding mobile app, so this experience and expertise were beneficial.
Ali, the entrepreneur, has expressed his immense satisfaction with this programme and eagerly wishes to seek collaboration with PUM again next year for further expansion of his business.
