Beverage Processing
Beverage processing transforms agricultural raw materials into products with higher value and market potential. PUM collaborates with SMEs in dairy, soft drinks, juices and alcoholic beverages to improve quality, food safety and sustainable production. Through stronger processing, skills development and market orientation, the programme contributes to resilient value chains, economic opportunities and resilient local communities.
The Beverage Processing programme strengthens sustainable and inclusive value chains that transform agricultural raw materials into high-quality beverages. Our experts draw on experience in products such as dairy, coffee, cocoa and fermented beverages. PUM collaborates with SMEs to improve quality, food safety, resource efficiency and market access, while supporting skills development and opportunities for women and youth.
Milk – quality throughout the chain
Milk processing requires strict hygiene standards and reliable quality control throughout the value chain. PUM collaborates with SMEs on milk collection, storage and small- to medium-scale processing methods. This includes yoghurt, ice cream and other milk-based products. By improving process control, food safety and product quality, businesses can strengthen their position in local and regional markets and diversify their offering.
Soft drinks and juices – adding value
The production of soft drinks and juices creates opportunities to add value to locally grown fruits and other agricultural products. PUM collaborates with SMEs to improve processing, quality control, shelf-life and packaging. Attention is also given to efficient use of water and energy, enabling businesses to produce safe, attractive products that meet market requirements.
Alcoholic beverages – distinctive products
Alcoholic beverages combine local knowledge with growing commercial opportunities. PUM collaborates with producers to improve fermentation processes, hygiene and process control, ensuring consistent quality and longer shelf-life. This enables SMEs to professionalise production while maintaining distinctive products that reflect local identity and meet market requirements.
Strengthening business foundations
The programme also includes experts with extensive experience in general strategy and business planning areas. They collaborate with entrepreneurs and organisations to strengthen management, marketing, finance and operations. By combining technical expertise with general business support, PUM contributes to sustainable growth and resilient organisations.
