Uplifting farmers incomes in Kenya

 

Fadhili Africa Ltd, based in Kenya, focuses on advocacy for soil management which leads to a significant uplift in farmer incomes, and also contributes to protecting the soil from over-fertilization. PUM expert Tim Bett collaborated with Fadhili Africa to develop a growth strategy for their business of providing soil analysis using near infra-red (NIR) scanners.

 

Tim explains: “On the basis of a scan, Fadhili offers recommendations to improve both soil fertility and soil health. Having applied the necessary fertilizer mix, farmers experience significant improvements in their crop yields. The strategy is based on a customer/service segmentation and we are now finalising a detailed implementation plan. The next challenge for Fadhili is how to realise this exciting opportunity!”During his time in Kenya, Tim visited two coffee smallholder farmers who are part of the Ng’araria Cooperative in Muranga County, Kenya, and who stand to benefit from Fadhili’s approach.
